Cajun Steamer Expanding into the Southeast

October 8, 2021

Birmingham-based Cajun Steamer Bar & Grill is looking to add another location in the Southeast.

The restaurant is planning a new location for Murfreesboro, Tennessee, according to a company release. Cajun Steamer leaders project the Murfreesboro location will open on Nov. 2.

“We couldn’t be more excited to share our heritage with the community, make new friends and show them how to party Cajun Steamer-style,” said Gaston Lanaux, president and COO of the company. “We are thrilled to say that day is drawing near and can’t wait for our new friends to experience all we have to offer.”

This will be Cajun Steamer’s fifth location. Of the first four, three are in Alabama, at Hoover, Huntsville and Trussville. The fourth is in Franklin, Tennessee, the company said.

On top of the upcoming Murfreesboro location, Cajun Steamer has one more site under construction, according to a spokesperson. The spokesperson did not specify where the other new location will be.

Beyond the two restaurants under construction, Cajun Steamer has five more in the works, which will more than double the size of the locally based chain once complete.

Cajun Steamer isn’t the only Birmingham restaurant chain in the midst of expansion. Jim ‘N Nick’s is also planning to establish new restaurants in a process that could add hundreds of jobs to its headcount in the next year. While the company is looking to put up 30 new restaurants in three years of expansion work, it’s looking to start slow and accelerate – five the first year, 10 the second and 15 the third. The expansions are likely to focus on Jim ‘N Nick’s core markets of Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
